*UPDATED* Original Star Wars Characters Return POST RETURN OF THE JEDI!!!!!

Don't get your hopes up too high, but this is a nice start.

Steve Sansweet confirmed at C2E2 that LucasFilm plans to revisit the original cast of characters from Star Wars in post Return of the Jedi adventures.

However, it will be in the same animated format as The Clone Wars series running today.

He did not elaborate, and I couldn't knock Cheaz out of the way in time to get to the microphone before the panel ended.  Otherwise, you can bet your sweet bippy I'd have asked some follow-up questions.

So there it is folks.  We will definitely be seeing Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewy again in new adventures.

I have no idea if this will be all original material or based on the expanded universe... so don't ask.  This is all I know.

Oh, there was one ominous thing he said though... not everyone who dies in sci-fi stays dead.  He continued by stating we'll see what he means in 3 to 4 years.

Now, let me be clear, this wasn't in direct response to the post ROTJ question.  This was just a little tease he threw out BEFORE he told us about the new animated adventures of our favorite rebels.

To me, this is one great step forward.  It's not full-fledged films, but if this turns out well, who says we won't get them?

BTW, my time is being a bit divided by my new site www.PhoenixOneAlpha.com

Please check it out when you get a chance.  Phoenix is a dedicated to another project [Edit: my book] I have coming out later this year.

***********UPDATE************

This update is for clarification purposes.  IGN seems to be running a similar article, but they are construing Sansweet's words differently than we did.  When the fan said he wanted to see more adventures with the original characters after Return of the Jedi, Sansweet's response was, "And you will, in the new animation."

IGN seems to take that as though he was referencing the new comedy series from the Robot Chicken crew.

We at BOL did not.  This question came after a long series of previews for The Clone Wars TV series; therefore, we took it as a direct reference to THAT animation, not whatever Green and Co. have cooked up.  For all we know of their series, it may not be animation at all, and may be stop-motion like Chicken [Edit: After some research, I verified the comedy series is animated, which only causes more confusion.]

Again, I wish BOL, IGN, or anyone for that matter had been able to ask a follow-up.  Instead, the last question, if I remember correctly, had to do with the engine power of Star Destroyers.

I'll understand if you facepalmed at the thought of that question.  It's the most appropriate response.
